The Time Is Now: Spotify on iPad
In case you aren’t following the craziness on twitter or Facebook, Spotify has grown tremendously! Integration with facebook was a big step, but others (including myself) enjoy offline playlists and apps. One major downfall of Spotify was the iOS app, only for iPhone….until now! Spotify has released a universal app now! Check out our review of it!On Wednesday May 2nd, Spotify launched version 0.5.0 of its iOS app, expanding the horizons to iPads now. The app only runs on iOS devices with iOS 5 or later. Listeners continue to have access to the millions of songs, but now it can be streamed over AirPlay. The upgrade also includes retina graphics!
Gapless playback and crossfading are new features and several bugs that caused the app to crash while updating playlists or starring songs have been fixed.
Settings for Last.fm and facebook are still easy to find and use, and you can choose to share individual tracks to facebook, twitter, or email. You can share tracks between Spotify friends also with their built in messaging inbox.
The app is free, but you’ll need to be a subscriber to Spotify’s $10 a month service to use most of the app’s features including listening to your music on your iOS device. If you are a free user, you can still use the app locally to wirelessly run the Spotify application on your mac.
