Panic announces Coda 2 and Diet Coda

Panic announces Coda 2 and Diet Coda

Yesterday (May 21st) Panic announced the release of Coda 2 and a new product, Diet Coda. Though the apps aren’t available till May 24th, there are still plenty of awesome new features to drool over!Having been a Coda user for over two years now, I have my wants and needs just like anyone else. Coda 2 fills those perfectly. Among the newest features of Coda 2 are some big ones that the Coda community has been begging for, such as:

  • Code folding
  • Better CSS support
  • Better live code hints

Totally new and noteworthy features in Coda 2 include a built in MySQL Editor and AirPreview with your iPad.

Diet Coda is a totally new product from Panic. Take Coda, shrink it down and throw it on an iPad and you have Diet Coda. I, for one, am ecstatic! I have looked everywhere for a good code editor on the iPad, and this could be the holy grail of them all! As mentioned above, Coda 2 includes a new AirPreview mode, where you can view the webpage from your iPad while coding on your Mac. Here is the only catch, you can only use AirPreview with Diet Coda (which costs).

Panic is having a sale with 50% off both apps, so be sure to go get the newest apps at a discounted price!

Diet Coda sounds amazing - except the (it costs) part. Who wouldn't want to see what they were coding on your iPad. What is the cost of these new apps? They sound like something I would be interested in getting. I don't think I would need both though. If you were going to pick one, which would you pick?

I so love the name "Diet Coda".  How clever is that?!  Panic sounds like it is offering a great deal for this very useful software.
