Apple TV Rumor Roundup

Apple TV Rumor Roundup

While the next Apple TV software release isn’t actually expected to be revealed until winter of 2012, the rumors are certainly flying around as to the next round of updates that will be featured on Apple TV. We do know that the new version will certainly have more features than the original operating system that it was built on.
The biggest and best update, according to users is that this Apple TV and its new software will power the new Apple HDTV that is said to be coming to the market. This would essentially mean that you would no longer need a separate Apple TV unit, which would make lovers of Apple extremely happy. Sadly, while this would be the most important update to Apple’s TV projects, we also know that if they do an unveiling at this year’s WWDC, they won’t break out the television for all to see.
One of the cooler advantages of having an Apple powered TV is that you get the power of iPhone apps in your living room unit. Apple is working to find manufacturers that will use an API to build applications and accessories that are compatible with the new Apple TV. Not only would this be a cool feature to have for user experience on your TV, but then the unit would also have a “control out” feature. This would allow you to connect things like your surround sound, your video game consoles, and any other electronic devices that you use in conjunction with your television set and control them right from the Apple TV unit. Additionally, the Apple TV itself would be controlled by your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, completely eliminating the need for any sort of remote control.
Essentially the project is two-fold. Apple has yet to reveal a set-top box, and Tim Cook, CEO of Apple says that this type of unit remains an experiment. While we think that he’s just keeping us waiting around for it, we also know that Apple would never make the financial mistake of revealing two products at the same time. There’s only so much money that you can take from consumers at one time. However, we’re nonetheless excited to see where these rumors go. If we’re lucky the new and exciting Apple HDTV will come with an app that walks your dog as well. It seems to do everything else quite well.

Sorry for the silly question, but what the types of things you can see with Apple TV? I am guessing all the iTunes products will be available to view on Apple TV, am I right?

I'd love for my Apple Ap to not only walk my dog but clean the house, too. I'm waiting. It's really exciting to see what Apple has come up with so far. I still can't get over the iPhone, which is like holding magic in your hand. Apple TV is going to have a tough time topping that one.

Amazing is the first thing I thought when reading this blog comment. Hooking your Apple TV up to your surround sound, iPhone, iPad and gaming console. I can't wait for Apple to release this. I wonder what the cost will be and how long before it's on the market.

I want this now. I can't imagine controlling my TV from my iPad. Apple is amazing - they seem to be the leader in new technology. I can't wait to see what Apple has in store for the new Apple TV and software.

@Kathleen C Oh yeah! I want it to walk the dog too! I do agree about the iPhone! It's magical isn't it. I was for the longest time hesitant on buying one. I'm glad I did! It was a toss up between a Droid and an iPhone. I can't wait to see if the Apple TV is all that is supposed to be.
